Odessa Hotels Score Highest

Odessa hotels have scored the highest in Ukrainian architecture rating.

The city’s “London” and “Red” hotels are believed to be the most beautiful buildings in Odessa and Ukraine. The London hotel is the oldest one in the city and is famous for its vistors, the list of which includes Nikita Mikhalkov, Oleg Yankovsky, Mark Zaharov, and Marcello Mastroianni.

The Red Hotel, previously known as Bristol, hosted Henri Barbusse, James Oldridge and Theodore Herman Albert Dreiser.

Ukraine Won’t Have Sheraton Hotels

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide announced that it will postpone the construction of luxurious 5* Sheraton hotel in Ukraine.

In the opinion of the company’s experts, the country is not ready yet to have a hotel that expensive as Ukrainian tourists are mostly concerned with the price of lodging.

This is the major reason why the first hotel in Ukraine to be constructed by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide will be Four Points 4*.

Ukraine Wants President-Hotel “Kievsky” Back

The Ukrainian Government plans to retrieve the rights for the prestigious hotel “President Hotel Kievsky.” The hotel is located in Kiev downtown, next to the Olympiysky stadium and is 100% state-owned.

Last year the Government decided to rent the hotel. The “Quard” construction company was chosen as a tenant.

At the moment, the annual rent rate for the prestigious hotel stands at 17 million hryvnas.

Spartak to Be Rebuilt

Spartak” Hotel, located right in Odessa downtown (Deribasovskaya street) and being city’s historical heritage, will be rebuilt soon.

The reconstruction of the hotel has already been agreed officially.

Natalia Shterbul, head of Odessa Council of Cultural Heritage, said that the reconstruction of “Spartak” has been approved by Odessa and Kiev governments.

Odessa Hotels Become Less Profitable

Accordin g to the latest figures released by Ernst & Young, the overall income of Odessa hotels has dropped by as much as 10% since the beginning of 2010.

As for Ukraine in general, the country’s hotel sector has experienced a 30-40% fall in overall income last year.

Experts are determined that an uprise in this sphere is only possible by 2013. At the moment tourists are mostly interested in renting apartments in Odessa.

Luxurious Hotel to Replace Humoriland

Odessa City Council announced recently that the abandoned entertainment center “Humoriland“, located at 19 Chernomorskaya street – right at the Langeron beach - will be replced by a luxurious 4* hotel.

The 24-storey hotel that will have 277 rooms will be constructed in the form of the sail.

It will feature an underground parking lot for 450 cars and a helipad.

Former "Hotel du Nord"

In he run up to the high tourist season, Victor Aksanuk – director of Odessa tourism and recreation department – made a short overview of Odessa tourist market, paying particular attention to hotels.
